AFRICAN BLACK SOAP

African black soap originated in West Africa. It’s made from locally harvested plants- roasted plantain skin, cacao pods, palm oil, palm kernel, and shea butter. These ingredients contain antioxidants and moisturizing properties that inhibit the growth of bacteria. It helps exfoliate and clear dead skin, lessens and prevents acne, infuses the skin with moisture, and soothes dry skin. It also helps reduces dark spots. This ingredient is found in the African Black Soap Face Wash.
ALOE VERA (Aloe Barbadensis miller)

Aloe plants thrive in dry, unstable climates, and to survive the harsh conditions, the leaves store water. These water-dense leaves, combined with unique plant compounds called complex carbohydrates, make them an effective face moisturizer and pain reliever. It keeps the skin clear and hydrated, which is why it is an essential ingredient in the African Black Soap Face Wash. It also contains active ingredients and minerals that help strengthen hair and control greasy hair. It soothes the scalp and promotes hair growth. It can also be found in our Lip Balm.
ALMOND OIL (Prunus amygdalus)

Almonds are native to the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, and North African regions and have been a part of many traditional home remedies. The oil is light and aromatic, making it more attractive to use. Almond oil helps to protect, strengthen, condition, and lock in moisture due to its high fatty acid content. This can be found in our Lip Balm.
AMLA FRUIT (Phyllanthus Emblica)

Amla fruits are known for their high concentration of Vitamin E. Vitamin E supports healthy circulation. Applying it typically promotes healing and cell regeneration in the given area. It conditions your scalp to promote a healthier scalp, minimize dandruff and result in healthier locks. We have this ingredient as one of the herbs in our Ayurvedic Hair Oil.
ARGAN OIL (Argania Spinosa)

Argan oil is produced from the kernels of the argan tree from Morocco. Argan has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the damaging effect of free radicals. It is known to reduce signs of aging when applied directly to the skin. The fatty acids in argan oil support healthily hydrated and minimize hair damage.
ASHWAGANDHA ROOT (Withania Somnifera)

The flavonoids of ashwagandha are a rich source of protein, Vitamin C, Iron, tannins, potassium, and nitrate, which are essential components for healthy hair growth. Ashwagandha stimulates the production of DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone), a natural hormone in the body that is an antioxidant. It helps combat free radicals from the scalp and hair follicle, promoting hair growth. It also improves blood circulation in the scalp, which supports the delivery of nutrients to the hair follicles. AVOCADO OIL (Persea americana)

This edible oil is also known for its high monounsaturated fats and Vitamin E. It contains vital antioxidants that help strengthen the skin barrier and accelerate the healing of damaged skin. It helps nourishes the skin and protects against Ultra-Violet rays. It also nourishes the scalp and promotes hair growth due to Vitamins B, E, and antioxidant properties. BLACK SEED OIL (Nigella Sativa)

The black seed oil has a crucial component – thymoquinone, which has antioxidant properties that help relieve inflammation. This helps maintain scalp health by addressing issues such as dandruff while keeping the hair moisturized. This act as a suitable sealant for the hair shaft due to its richness in fatty amino acids. We have this ingredient in our Ayurvedic Hair Oil.
CITRIC ACID

Citric acid is an organic acid found in all citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, limes, grapes, tomatoes, papayas, kiwis, etc. This gives them a sour and tart taste. It is a colorless and odorless chemical compound found in almost all citrus fruits. Unlike other organic acids, Citric Acid is weakly acidic in nature, with its pH level ranging between 3 and 6. This organic acid found in fruits is loaded with beauty benefits that help make your hair soft, silky, and glossy.
CHAMOMILE OIL (Matricaria Chamomile)

Comprising potent anti-inflammatory and calming properties, chamomile oil helps soothe and calm the skin from irritation. It also helps tighten pores and slow down aging. This is an active ingredient in some of our face cleansers.
FENUGREEK SEEDS (Trigonella foenum-graecum)

Fenugreek is rich in iron and protein and combines these properties to induce hair growth and revives damaged hair from dehydration, heat styling, chemicals, and sun and color treatments. The iron and potassium also balance the deficit of minerals required for sufficient melanin production in the hair follicle, which gives the dark color to the natural hair preventing premature greying problems. It also contains lecithin, a natural emollient that thoroughly conditions and moisturizes the scalp and hair. The mucilaginous fiber in Fenugreek helps maintain the moisture barrier in hair stands, thereby improving the shine and texture of the hair. JAMAICAN CASTOR OIL

Jamaican Black Castor Oil or JBCO, affectionately called in the hair community, is a ‘tried and true staple for most hair types. Whether relaxed or natural, most people can agree that the one ultimate benefit of this multi-purpose oil is Hair Growth. Moisturize, thicken, strengthen and rapidly increase hair growth, increase blood flow to the scalp, and supply valuable nutrients to hair follicles, preventing hair breakage, dandruff, eczema, and dry, itchy scalp. MARSHMALLOW ROOT

Marshmallow root is a herb native to Africa, but it can also be found in parts of Asia and Europe. It’s a highly effective emollient and conditioner due to its high mucilage levels that act as a protective film when applied to hair. It is a natural moisturizer that detangles and conditions hair and improves shine and appearance. We have this ingredient as one of the herbs in our Ayurvedic Hair Oil.
OLIVE OIL

Olive oil is a great makeup remover and can also clear sunscreen traces. It protects and hydrates the most sensitive skin and repairs damaged skin tissues. Olive oil revitalizes and strengthens the tonicity of the skin. This is an active ingredient in some of our face cleansers.
ROSEHIP OIL

Rosehip Oil hydrates and moisturizes and helps exfoliate and brighten skin. It reduces inflammation and helps protect against sun damage. This is an active ingredient in some of our face cleansers.
ROSE WATER

Rose water is a liquid made from water and rose petals. It is used as a perfume due to its sweet scent, but it also has medicinal and culinary values. Rosewater has anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it beneficial for scalp health. It reduces oiliness and dandruff buildup. It also has a calming and soothing fragrance and may help to lift one’s mood. It can calm down frizz and add shine.
NEEM LEAVES

The neem tree is commonly used for medicinal purposes, with its leaves being sources of fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. The fruits, seeds, and leaves can all provide health benefits, but the leaves, in particular, are used for this ayurvedic hair oil. It’s high in antifungal and antibacterial properties that help with dandruff and scalp issues, promote hair growth, reduce shedding, and strengthen hair follicles. NETTLE LEAVES

HORSETAIL TEA (Equisetum arvense)

Horsetail contains an amino acid called cysteine and minerals such as Selenium, enhancing hair growth. Its silicone and antioxidant content help reduce micro-inflammation and the aging of hair fibers caused by free radicals. This also lowers the rate of hair loss and increases hair brightness. We have this ingredient as one of the herbs in our Ayurvedic Hair Oil.
Cocoa Butter

Cocoa Butter is a hydrator that heals chapped skin. It acts as a moisturizer. It is rich in antioxidants which protect skin from free radical damage. It can be found in our Natural Lip Balm.
Beeswax

Beeswax is excellent for retaining moisture while protecting the skin from damage, making it ideal for treating dry, chapped lips. It can be found in our Lip Balm.
GRAPESEED OIL (Vitis vinifera)

Grapeseed chemical components are known to maintain the skin's and hair's radiance. It stimulates and grows thicker, longer, and stronger hair and reduces the appearance of aging, such as wrinkles and face lines. Grapeseed carrier oil quickly absorbs the skin and delivers intense moisture without irritating the skin, leaving an oily residue or clogging pores. This makes it ideal for skin types that are oily, sensitive, and mature and for skin afflicted with acne and eczema. This product can be found in some of our face cleansers.
JOJOBA OIL (Simmondsia Chinensis)

Jojoba oil has various healing properties that effectively treat skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis. It moisturizes dry skin and softens rough cuticles. Its anti-bacterial properties and high iodine levels fight bacteria growth, preventing breakouts and reducing acne by controlling oil production. It boosts the skin’s glow by diminishing dullness. It’s non-comedogenic, hence won’t clog your pores. It also protects hair against dryness, breakage, and split ends and promotes hair growth. This product can be found in our Ayurvedic Hair Oil.
DISTILLED WATER

Distilled water is used as a solvent in cosmetic and personal care products as it dissolves many of the ingredients that impart skin benefits. Distilled water has exceptional purity and has had all impurities removed from it. We have this ingredient in our African Black Soap Face Wash.
CASTOR OIL (Ricinus communis)

Castor oil has been claimed to have many benefits, including strengthening strands, promoting hair growth, and nourishing the scalp. It creates a healthier environment on the scalp that aids in hair growth.
GLYCERINE

Glycerin, or glycerol, is known to be the most effective humectant. As such, it draws in moisture to the hair and scalp. Additionally, it helps create a barrier to prevent water from leaving the skin and hair follicles. We have this ingredient in our African Black Soap Face Wash.
OPTIPHEN

Optiphen is a liquid, paraben-free, formaldehyde-free preservative used in aqueous, anhydrous, and emulsions. It is a preservative essential to cosmetic formulations because they kill germs. Optiphen is a globally approved preservative system created by ISP consisting of Phenoxyethanol and Caprylyl Glycol. An actual, multi-functional ingredient, caprylyl glycol also acts as a humectant and wetting agent in cosmetic and skincare formulations and provides viscosity modification in some formulations. We have this ingredient in our African Black Soap Face Wash and Ayurvedic Hair Oil.
SHEA BUTTER (Butyrospermum Parkii)

Shea butter comes from the kernels of shea trees, native to sub-Saharan Africa. Traditionally, parts of the shea tree were famous for their anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, relieving health issues like ulcers, nasal congestion, and skin problems. Shea butter boosts skin moisture improving the skin’s natural barrier. It is suitable for a flaky and irritated scalp, as its anti-inflammatory properties reduce dryness and treat potential scalp damage. It also adds moisture and shine to the hair, especially coarse, dry, and curly.
VITAMIN E (Tocopherol)

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps fight against environmental aggressors. It helps retain moisture and acts as an anti-aging agent. This can be found in our Ayurvedic Hair Oil, African Black Soap Face Wash, Face Cleansers, and Lip Balm.
